CASIMIR Workshop
CASIMIR (www.casimir.org.uk) is a Co-ordination Action funded by the European Commission, aiming to gather information and make recommendations on the integration of databases and resources throughout Europe that contain genetic and phenotypic data of relevance to the mouse as a model organism for human disease.
CASIMIR workshop will be held on Friday, 10 October 2008, within BIBE 2008 and will include the following sessions:
Database Interoperability and Ontologies (chaired by Dr. Aidinis and Dr. Schofield). Invited Speakers: Paul Schofield, Morris Swertz, John Hancock, Anna Anagnostopoulos, George Komatsoulis and Timos Sellis.
Database Sustainability (round table, chaired by Dr. Aidinis)

“Introduction to Bioinformatics” Tutorial
This tutorial will be held on Wednesday, 8 October 2008 in co-operation with the BRF (
www.bioacademy.gr) of Academy of Athens, Greece, and will be given by Associate Professor Erik Bongcam-Rudloff (Linnaeus Center of Bioinformatics, Sweden), president of fthe EMBnet (
www.embnet.org). The main objective of the course is to introduce young scientists to, and encourage application of, bioinformatics/computational biology in their research and to present some of the biological resources available on the web. CASIMIR workshop will be held on Friday, 10 October 2008, within BIBE 2008 and will include the following sessions:
Biological Databases
BLAST
EnsEMBL
